Codes and conventions of a front cover
·         The cover is plain
·         The title is relevant to the school
·         Clear contrasting background and text
·         The colour scheme is basic
·         There is one main image which is normally related to the main storyline of the magazine
·         Smaller images
·         Tag line
·         Date of issue
·         Barcode


·         Rugby school clearly
·         Price
·         Feminine colours
·         Plain background
·         Formal layout
·         Smaller image
·        Text across the bottom relates to the fresh looking kit that the member is wearing.
·         Appealing main image
·         No freebies like gossip magazines but option for competition.
·         Bare minimum of text on the cover.
·         Nothing relative to celebrities or fashion or gossip in the school magazines.
Generalising
·         They all have a bold masthead
·         Have a main image as the main story for the film
·         A subheading as the second most important story within the issue, sometimes complete with a secondary image.
·         1-4 images on the cover.
·         Stories featured all related to the school or the area.
·         Greater image to text ratio
·         Basic colour scheme
·         Level of formality as it is a school issue.
